Standard Bearer, Alternative National Congress

A businessman's discipline. A nation's next chapter.

Alexander B. Cummings spent four decades building some of the world's largest companies. Now he's bringing that same rigor to Liberia — clean government, real infrastructure, and an economy that works for everyone, not just the connected few.

From Bushrod Island to the boardroom — and back home to serve.

Alexander was born at the old government hospital in Monrovia and raised in Point Four, Bushrod Island, the son of an educator and Episcopal prelate and a midwife who ran her own business. That upbringing — discipline paired with service — set the course for everything that followed.

He went on to run finance for a billion-dollar division of Pillsbury International, then spent nearly two decades at The Coca-Cola Company, eventually becoming Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer — the second-highest office in the company — overseeing operations in 200 countries on a $1 billion budget. Today he sits on the board of S.C. Johnson & Son and has previously served Chevron, Coca-Cola Bottling Consolidated, Africare, and Clark Atlanta University, where he was Chairman.

He and his wife Teresa have been married more than 40 years, raised two children, Ayo and Boikai, and now have five grandchildren. In 2015 they founded the Cummings Africa Foundation, which has since put roughly $1.5 million to work in Liberian health, education, entrepreneurship, and youth programs — long before he ever asked for a vote.

The Vision

A 21st-century Liberia, built on clean government.

Seven priorities, each one built to be measured — not promised.

01

Clean Hands governance

A dedicated anti-corruption court with real enforcement power, and an end to wasteful government spending.

02

21st-century infrastructure

Reliable power, clean water, paved roads, and nationwide internet — the foundation for any investment to follow.

03

Jobs & economic growth

A genuine middle class, built by adding value to Liberia's own agriculture and natural resources instead of exporting them raw.

04

Stronger agriculture

Investment and capacity-building for small farmers, cutting rural poverty and strengthening food security.

05

Modern healthcare

Low-cost, universal access to care, with a real focus on prevention and primary treatment, not just emergency response.

06

Education for all

Stronger basic literacy, technology in the classroom, and real vocational and adult-education pathways.

07

Hearts & minds

National service opportunities and renewed investment in the arts, culture, and sport that bring the country together.

Commitments

What a Cummings administration will actually promise.

  • No immediate family members will be employed anywhere in the government.
  • A 40% increase in women's participation across government roles.
  • 600,000 new jobs created over the first six years in office.
  • The national budget doubled through better collection, not new burdens on citizens.
